PJV Foundation’s journey began smoothly with the success of our first event: Iftar with the orphans at Pusat Jagaan Lambaian Kasih Sg. Penchala (PJLK).
Arriving early at PJLK, members of our foundation were greeted warmly by the caretaker Puan Norlela and the children themselves. There were roughly around 60 boys and girls living in the home, ranging from 7 to 12 years old. We mingled around and got to know them better, listening intently to their stories and answering any questions they had for us.
It was a pleasure to see the children in such high spirits, laughing and eagerly wanting to take pictures with us; for a moment it seemed as though there was no hardship in their lives. That was one of our aims: to be able to bring joy and laughter to these children.
After we helped prepare the tables for Iftar, we were treated to a Nasyid performance by several of the girls. It’s not easy being a child and having to perform in front others especially those who are older than you, so we really admired the confidence these girls had to perform for us.
After the Nasyid performance, it was time for Iftar followed by the presentation of gifts we had brought for the children; an Al-Quran for each child. We then proceeded to perform Tarawikh prayers.
All in all, it was a wonderful experience for the PJV Foundation and hopefully for the children too. We’re so thankful that our first event was a success and we’re looking forward to many more to come, InsyaAllah.
